The most common use of tempered glass is for glass doors, often known as "safety doors".
Because safety doors are not surrounded by traditional "frame" profiles, their hardware (hinges, pivots, handles, locks, etc.) must be affixed directly to the sheet of glass, which requires the use of glass that can resist tightening.
